Welcome to Some Films and Stuff.
This blog was started due to a need to write and a love for cinema which handily meshed together into Some Films and Stuff. I’m a big film geek basically and having written for other websites, wanted to do my own thing. The blog started with the idea of doing straight up reviews, but as things are progressing I seem to be writing flat-out essays more interested in discussing films on thematic/cultural and other such pretentious levels; this site is more of a cinematic discussion board for me to vent, which hopefully fellow film-fans will enjoy. Currently, films are chosen fairly randomly based on what interests me at the time, though I’m happy to take requests too, and hopefully as things move on I’ll get a more organised system in place.
I’m currently doing films I love, so don’t expect many negative posts at the moment, though if something really offends me I’ll look into it. The ‘Stuff’ element of the site covers television, books, and various other pieces of pop-culture which will start to appear as I become more established.
Stuff about me: I’m an English Literature graduate who lives in Manchester, UK, I love The Smiths and Haribo. My favourite directors are Kubrick, Lynch, Leone, Tarantino, Cuarón, Fincher, and Miyazaki off the top of my head. I love horror movies especially, so expect to see a lot of those, and at some point I intend to tackle all the Bond films too.
As a disclaimer, I own none of the images on this site so feel free to shout at me if this is an issue and I’ll take those straight down. This blog exists for non-profit, though I will accept films to review when I’m more established and I’m happy to guest post on other sites. I really want to get my name out there as a movie writer so always happy to look for opportunities!
If you’d like to get in touch, you can reach me on firstname.lastname@example.org – I’m happy to take requests, and open to contributing and guest posting on other sites. It’s also probably easier to get in touch with my via Twitter – link’s in the sidebar. Film distributors are also welcome (and encouraged) to get in touch if they’d like me to review any of their new releases.
Thanks. Hope you enjoy.
